5 Do-It-Yourself Skills Every Woman Should Have

Lefty-loosey, righty-tighty! So, which of these five have you taken on?

I've tried #1 but was defeated and had to get a plumber's help. #2? Way too proficient at it (those toddler wipes may be flushable but not a box at a time. #3 I want to try.

  1. OK, if I may brag for a moment, I have done all but the cabinet! We just replaced something in the toilet that was making it run all the time. I took a picture on my camera, took the camera to Ace, they sold me the right part. I tried to get the old one off, but my hubby had to do the actual repair. $5 part that would have been a $200 service call! Very exciting and empowering.

And I will admit it: I turned the knob around on a door in our house to keep a child in a room during nap and bedtime. It's now been turned the right way.

I must also add that the best plunger in the world is the accordion-style. They look weird, but they get the job done.

If I can do it, anyone can! I am not handy at all. But I did go back to Ace yesterday for the little plastic things that you are supposed to screw screws into if you aren't near a stud. The curtains are hanging again. But no one knows for how long! :-)
